I spent fifteen years in the diamond and jewelry trade, evaluating stones, designing pieces, and working with clients who expected precision because precision was the entire point of what they were buying. A diamond either has a flaw or it doesn’t. A setting is either level or it isn’t. That trade doesn’t leave room for “close enough,” and neither does a home you’re going to live in for the next twenty years. I bring that same standard to a kitchen island or a load-bearing wall as I once brought to a stone under a loupe.

Alongside jewelry, I spent four years studying Traditional Chinese Medicine, a discipline built entirely around balance, how energy moves through a system, and how one part out of alignment throws off everything connected to it. A home works the same way. Light, airflow, traffic patterns, where a family actually gathers versus where the floor plan assumes they will, none of it exists in isolation. When I walk a property before design even starts, I’m not just measuring a room, I’m reading how the whole house functions as one connected system.
